Created en plein air during the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage.

It is surprising what can be accomplished in one morning. By lunch time artist Julie H Winter was covered in oil paint, but felt happy with her mornings painting session. Many people had watched while she painted with her trusty palette knife. Her husband stood on the bridge overlooking this scene and chatted with people as they stared on in wonderment. By the end of the hard working day three lovely paintings would be added to Julie's North Yorkshire Collection.

The first part of the day was warm and bright. All of a sudden the sky changed and an imminent cloud formation added drama. Julie was quick to capture this stunning sky.

Later, after the rain there was a short window of time to cast down some broad strokes to capture the shadows from the Fishermen's cottages. Later it would be signed and called Staithes Cottages. Here the paintings are on Julie's webstore at jhwinter.shop
